"After years of stretching, releasing and opening, I still had such limited mobility in certain areas of my body. I couldn’t understand why...I figured I’d overstretched from all the yoga, and I felt a little betrayed by my practice.
I have so much more confidence in myself as a yoga teacher and personal trainer now....I’ve learned so much.
It feels like I’ve discovered the missing pieces in my experience with my body and my trainings as a yoga teacher and CPT." - Erika Newell

"I've never had more fun, gotten better results, or felt this good so quickly in my whole life...Chandler's knowledge, encouragement, & passion are top notch.  I'd recommend him to anyone looking to gain confidence  & strength in their own bodies.
Man or woman, young or old, Chandler will get you where you want to be." - Zach Franke

What Makes This Approach So Different?

When it comes to improving mobility, most people have tried everything from foam rolling to stretching, yoga to massage, and everything in between...all without much success.  Too often we get sidetracked by the myths and pseudoscience surrounding mobility, and the scary thing is: most teachers don't know any better either.

In this workshop you'll learn a big picture approach to mobility so you can really understand what's going on in your body.

See, when it comes to improving mobility, there are three components that you have to address for lasting progress:

  • The ecological (figuring out what made you so stiff in the first place)
  • The neurological (understanding how to update your body's "operating system")
  • The physiological (creating lasting change to the connective tissues of the body)

If you ignore one of these three, you're going to be stuck spinning your wheels.

Think of it this way: ever notice how you feel really good after yoga class or a massage but find yourself stuck with the same limitations throughout the rest of the day?

Or maybe you have too much flexibility and continue to rack up nagging joint issues?

It doesn't have to be that way.

See, your mobility is your "movement currency".  Simply put: the more you have, the more you can do.

When mobility improves, you'll feel the benefits ripple out into every aspect of your life:

  • Freedom of movement and a newfound fluidity and playfulness in your body
  • Release from aches and chronic tension
  • A sense of ease in your posture and alignment
  • More presence and clarity in your day-to-day life
  • Improved skill acquisition (so you can do it for the 'Gram)

But beyond the cool tricks and physical benefits, improved mobility really changes who--and how--you are.  Your perspective shifts, and you start seeing opportunities instead of challenges.  That's exactly what you'll learn at Creating Space / Making Shapes.

Meet Your Coach

Hey there, I'm Chandler Stevens.

I'm a movement specialist, and I help people who are passionate about the body reclaim their movement and reshape their lives.

Over the years I've been on a quest to figure out how this "movement stuff" really works.  I've explored everything from natural movement to somatic education, parkour and gymnastics to movement therapy, and along the way I've shared what I learned with people around the world.

In my coaching practice I've worked with students on 6 continents (alas, no penguins yet), and I've written for leaders in fitness & health like Breaking Muscle and Functional Movement.

I'm known for making heady science and complex ideas simple to understand and easy to implement, giving students a rich experience they can truly make their own.

What Other Students Are Saying

"The movements you taught me are completely different than I was doing on the "machines" in the gym. Not only were they easier on my body, they provided results with much less time.  Biggest takeaway is "more" does not always mean better...Amazing what can happen when you are taught how and why the body works and reacts.  **Mind officially blown!!**" - Nate Forman

"My body was limited in what it could do even when I had the desire to be more active.  As I continue in this endeavor, I am able to do more physically then any time in my life.  I am more active.  I move better.  I am stronger, healthier, and I'm not limited by my knee pain. It has changed my quality of life, and I only wish I began sooner!" - Michelle Pastore

"I struggled with a lot before coming to you...I had been in pain for so long that I had become incredibly depressed.
I now know that the pain wasn't in my head, so now I feel entirely validated.  My confidence is growing every day!  I'M NOT BROKEN! I believe I can and will make a comeback both physically and mentally." - James Swantko

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I'm not a trainer or teacher--is this still suitable for me?

Absolutely.  Knowing how your body works is everybody's business.  And the explanations do a great job making complicated theories easy to understand and implement.

  • I'm currently dealing with an injury--will I still be able to participate?

Yes, in this workshop you'll not only learn effective strategies to recover from your injury, you'll also come away with tools to grow even stronger than before you hurt yourself.

  • I've never been very flexible--can I join anyway?

Of course.  We become flexible based on what we do with ourselves.  Every single participant notices a change in their range of motion and quality of movement during these events.

  • What can I expect at the end of the workshop?

First and foremost you can expect to feel pretty dang good.  You'll leave with newfound awareness of your body and a clear sense of what you're capable of.  Not only that you'll know a step-by-step framework to address your limitations.  And with an exclusive video library and members-only group, you'll have clear direction on how to continue your practice.

  • Why focus so much on mobility?

Mobility is the key limiting factor in what your body can and can't yet do.  You can think of mobility as strength + flexibility x neurological control.  It's what lets you make movements: from a clean & jerk to gardening.

  • Do you offer refunds if I have a change of plans?

No.  If you're unsure about attending, you should NOT sign up.  Past events consistently sell out, so if you're in, be in 100%.  However, if an emergency comes up, you can use your ticket for a future event.
